Luna (our Sandy/Hank pup) had two live pups (black males) by C-section on Tuesday, August 29th. It was rather disappointing to us because we had verified her pregnant at 35 days by ultrasound having at least 4 puppies inside her. However, the summer became brutally hot and dry and, even though she was put early on into our air conditioned whelping facility, she aborted at least one pup that we know of and had another dead pup inside her, which brought about the C-section. She just wouldn't eat on those hot days and did not put on the fat she needed to support gestation and lactation. The good news is that we did deliver two very nice, healthy male black pups by C-section. Oh well, we will try again with her next time, as she is a super dog. She's my wife's best pal and an excellent companion dog. Her two pups will be weaned and ready to go home on the weekend of October 13th. Windy whelped out 11 gorgeous puppies on Sunday, August 20th -- 4 males and 7 females. Her pups will be weaned and ready to go home on the weekend of September 30th.
Luna (our Sandy/Hank pup) is now bred to our super stud Gauge. She will be whelping around August 29th -- this should be an incredible hybrid cross; great companion dogs and fantastic hunters. Windy, another one of our yellow dams, is now bred and is expected to whelp around August 21st. She is bred to stud Arlo XVII -- we expect this to be another super litter of pups! We have two of Windy's pups from her previous litters (Sage & Dawn) and we will keep another pup from this litter -- also exceptional Labradors! Sandy, one of our yellow dams, whelped out 8 gorgeous pups (6 yellow males; 2 yellow females) on Friday, June 9th. She was bred to Sir Hank, a yellow Labrador. Her pups will be ready to go home on July 21st. This is the third time we have bred Hank to Sandy -- a great cross! We have one of Sandy's pups from her first litter (Luna) and will keep another one from this third litter -- wonderful Labradors! Midnight, one of our black dams, whelped out 7 beautiful pups (2 black males; 3 black females; 1 yellow male; & 1 yellow female) on Thursday, June 1st. She was bred to our fantastic stud Gunner Gauge. Her pups will be ready to go home on July 13th. Unfortunately our chocolate dam Sadie failed to become pregnant on the third try, so that ended our attempt at adding a chocolate line to our Labradors -- for now! Sage (yellow) is now in heat but will not be bred to Gauge (our new black stud dog) until December, as this is only her first heat. Therefore, her pups will be due sometime in February and ready to go home around the end of March. I know many of you are waiting for her pups -- but, trust me, it will be worth the wait. Bailey came into heat and will be bred to Bronco. Her pups should be due around mid-April and due to go home in late May. Our two new dams -- Midnight (Breezie/Smokejumper pup) and Sage (Windy/Smokejumper pup) are due to come into heat in April and will be bred with Hank and Gauge, respectively. These both will be mixed yellow and black litters. Also, we will be adding a wonderful chocolate dam to our breeding dogs in a few weeks, so those of you who are chocolate lovers will soon have the opportunity to buy quality chocolate pups from Diamond D!
Sandy, who was bred to Sir Hank of Spring Creek, whelped out 12 beautiful yellow pups on October 3rd.
Windy whelped out 9 beautiful pups on Thursday, July 30th -- 5 yellow males and 4 yellow females. Her pups will be ready to go on September 12th. She was bred to Arlo XVII. Sandy is now bred to Sir Hank of Spring Creek and is due to whelp around October 3rd. Her pups will be ready to go in November. Bailey will be bred to Bronco in the fall (October) -- Christmas puppies! We have two more new dams -- Midnight (Breezie/Smokejumper pup) and Sage (Windy/Smokejumper pup). Both will be bred on their third heats about 6 months from now. We also picked up a new stud dog -- Gauge. He is a smaller working/field "American" style dog with the heart of a lion. We will be breeding Breezie, Windy, and Bailey in May. So, pups should be ready to go around August. We will also be breeding Sandy (a Breezie pup that we kept) this summer. We have also acquired a new black stud dog and kept two other pups from Windy and Breezie as well. Disappointing news! Breezie whelped on Monday, July 28th; however, she only had three pups born and only one survived. We will be saving the one surviving puppy, a black female, for our breeding program. We will give Breezie a one year rest and try breeding her one last time in the Spring of 2015.
